ARTIST STATEMENT
Throughout my life I have struggled with health issues. Despite this, I have always been a glass half full kind of person. I believe that my affinity for bright colors stems from that. Even when I felt like I had no control and everything was going poorly, I could control the paintbrush. Choosing to paint in bright colors is my way of saying, “I have control and can create something that brings joy.”
I choose to focus on the light amidst darkness.
It wasn’t until middle school that I found my love of brightly colored animals. No matter what happened all day, I was always excited for my 45-minute art period. I have been in art at Stillwater since kindergarten. My teacher, Mz. B, has
always been so encouraging and always pushes me
to try new things. God’s creation is so beautiful and in Montana we constantly get to see it. I love painting God’s creations because it brings myself and those around me joy.
Everything I do is for God.
